My World: Fasting to recenter myself. Day 1.

I decided last week that I was going to give a serious shot to “The 21 Day Financial Fast: Your Path to Financial Peace and Freedom” by Michelle Singletary. I’d attempted it once before and got sidetracked, but wanted to commit. And since my travel schedule is free for the next 5-6 weeks, I figured this is a great time to implement new habits.

Sometimes when things in my life seem stagnant or are chaotic, I’ll make time to refocus and recenter myself. I can’t complain about life overall. Although I haven’t had success in love, I am really blessed in so many other ways. In ways that I couldn’t have imagined. But as my income grows, I waste more money on wants than I should, so I’m using this time when I really have no NEED to spend, to learn to avoid overspending on my wants. I live below my means, but that MEANS nothing if I’m overspending in other areas. Being able to just click “Buy Now” on whatever you want on Amazon or other sites makes it easy to fall down the rabbit hole of $3 kitchen gadgets on Temu.

I’ve also decided that along with the financial fast, I’m going to switch to a lacto-ovo pescatarian diet (seafood + eggs and dairy – I like a lil cheese on my food sometimes). I have also decided that I’m going to read daily, journal, and write on this blog about it. I started blogging back in the late 90s, and have abandoned it off and on ever since. But I want to keep track of this fast and hold myself accountable because I feel something big is about to happen in my life and this might be important one day.

So follow along if you want, or need some motivation to develop better habits in your own life.

Love you all,
